Green Lantern: Rebirth Geoff Johns(w), Ethan Van Sciver(p), Prentis Rollins (i) From the Cover: "He was the Greatest Green Lantern of them all. Then Hal Jordoan went mad and ultimately died in an attempt to redeem himself. But fate was not done with him" What it is: The collected mini-series of 2004 of the same name. What I think: I'm not a huge D.C. guy. I'm a Marvel guy, basically been one since day one. The only DC Comics I read are Green Arrow, Lobo (quiet you hatters), and the occassional graphic novel/collected series. Like this one. I really don't know the Green Lantern's, their corps, their story. But I got this and I was drawn in. The fights were epic, the mythology expanded upon, and even a loose end from Green Arrow got tied up. Every fight was great, the art spot on, and the writer even gave some good mystery for us to see solved. Final Word: Like I said, I'm not a Green Lantern fan/follower/what-have-you. I got this, I didn't regret getting this. It was a sollid read and made me curious to see what happens next. Did it make me a fan? No, but I'm a Marvel Man, so you can't expect me to be one now. Do you NEED to read this book? Maybe, but I could suggest a handful of others to pick up first. At $14.99 cover it wouldn't be a waste of money, so don't let price deter you. It's a part of modern DC history, a chapter of it, something to fit between Identity Crisis and Infinity Crisis (but acting more as a "what else was goind on in the DCU?" type), and acts as a real good starting point for a new comic reader. But alas, it's also one where you should pick up a few other choice graphic novels as companions, to further your depth and understanding.
