The Dead Hate The Living! (1999)

From the Box: "When a renegade band of young filmmakers breaks into an abandoned hospital to make their horror epic, they stumble upon a real dead body and decide to use it in their movie. They accidentally bring it back to life, open a portal to a dead world that reeases dozens of other zombies, then struggle for their lives in a desperate attempt to flee from the creatures who apparently have them hopelessly trapped in the hospital."

What You Get: Pretty accurate to the box description.

Origin of Zombies: A machine that can raise the dead, mutating them into undead monsters. The machine also puts the hospital into some kind of 'dead limbo'

Zombie Traits: Slow, staggered walking, dead appearance

Unzombie Traits: Not flesh-eaters, ability to speak & think (though limited)

The "Heroes": Filmmakers making a "zombie" movie

Zombie Killing Weapons of Choice: Chainsaw, knife, machete, fire, pistol

The Goals: Survive the undead, destroy the machine

End Result: The remaining filmmakers destroy the machine/portal, but as result are trapped in "dead limbo". The Director and the PA are the lone survivors

Zombie Rating: (very zombie-like, but technically reanimated corpses who want the living dead, not eaten)

Notes: "What Would Bruce Campbell Do?" Because the movie is filmmakers making a zombie movie they drop references to the who's who of zombie movies (Savani, Raimi, Romero, etc)

Dead can be fooled by a good make-up job, but can smell 'living' on you.

With the exception of their undead leader (who might as well be alive), the zombies are very zombie like
