For years comic books and movies have gone hand in hand, dating back to the early serials of the 30's and 40's. It probably wasn't until the 70's that more comics were finding true, full motion picture glory. In the 80's it continued it's refinement, but it wasn't until the last 10 years that comic companies decided to go 'main stream' and motion picture studios decided to tap a raw creative market.

But how well did these translations work? How successful the movies? And more to the point: how true in spirit of the original comic are these technicolor beasts?

That's where I come in.

I'm going to attempt to judge for you just how close... or way off... some of these movies have been.

Now you might ask who do I think I am, considering myself expert enough to take on such judgement? What makes me think I can rate these flicks?

Why? Because I read comics. Alot. Too many. I've sampled enough comic book literature in my life to think myself geek enough for the task.

Besides I have a website.

How will I rate? I guess for starters I'll rate on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the highest, of course). Down the line maybe I'll change it, add strictly, more in depth criteria, but for now it's just basic opinion.

And chances are you'll disagree, but that's fine enough.
